Master of Public Policy

Turn evidence into action.

The Master of Public Policy (MPP) at Baruch College’s Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, part of the City University of New York (CUNY), will be New York City’s first MPP degree, launching Fall 2027. The Marxe School MPP program prepares students to analyze complex public problems, evaluate policy alternatives, and lead with evidence and equity. Graduates will be equipped for careers in government, nonprofit, private-sector, and international organizations, with opportunities in policy analysis, advocacy, research, consulting, legislative affairs, and related policy fields.

Combining training in economic analysis, policy analysis, public finance, data collection, causal inference, quantitative methods, public administration, and equity, the curriculum builds on the School’s longstanding strengths.

Students connect classroom learning with applied policy work through internship opportunities, career and professional development support, and a culminating capstone project. They also benefit from faculty expertise and policy research opportunities connected to the Howard J. Samuels State and City Policy Center and the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research (CIDR). The Marxe School ranks among the top public affairs graduate schools in the United States in U.S. News & World Report‘s Best Graduate Schools rankings.

The MPP welcomes its first cohort in Fall 2027. Classes meet in the evening, in a mix of in-person and hybrid formats, so students can continue working while they earn the degree.

Program Details

Part- or full-time w/ in-person, hybrid, or online options. Start term is Fall. Credits: 36, or 39 with internship. Duration is 2 years on average for full-time students. Tuition is $545 per credit for in-state students.
