Master of Science in City Planning
The Marxe School’s Master of Science in City Planning (MSCP) provides a rigorous and relevant grounding in today’s field of city, community, and regional planning practice. Its curriculum is cost-effective and flexible, offering a degree more expeditiously (36 or 39 credits) than many other program options in the tri-state area.
Marxe’s MSCP at a glance:
- Faculty with local, national, and international practical experience and leading academic credentials from the world’s top city planning programs
- Courses offered both in-person and via a hybrid modality (i.e., a mixture of online and in-person class meetings)
- Students can also take elective classes from the Marxe School’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of International Affairs (MIA) programs, and in Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business, including its Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) program
Graduates will be trained in the professional values of the field, and will obtain knowledge and skills, including:
- Leading and participating in long-range planning processes
- Conducting data-based analyses of urban environments
- Communicating persuasively in professional contexts
- Leading planning teams and organizations effectively and equitably

- Housing
- Community Development
- Economic development
- Environmental planning
- Transportation planning
- International/comparative development planning
