We are consistently ranked among best graduate schools for nonprofit management in the United States according to U.S. News. For more information about Marxe School rankings, click here.

Baruch College is widely recognized as one of the best value-for-money colleges in the United States by CollegeNet, Forbes, Money, The Princeton Review, The Wall Street Journal, and Washington Monthly. For tuition information, visit the Bursar’s Office. To apply, click here!

    Graduate Programs

Our graduate degree programs are designed to accommodate the schedules of working professionals in the New York City area and beyond. Courses are offered in the evenings on campus and many courses are offered online. Students working toward the Masters of Public Administration (MPA) degree can specialize in Nonprofit Management. Students working toward the Masters in International Affairs (MIA) degree can concentrate in International NGOs.

The Marxe School has an outstanding track record of serving current and future nonprofit practitioners in addition to professionals in public service and business. About 60 percent of students from a typical MPA cohort are employed with nonprofit organizations after graduation. Within the MIA cohort, about 40 percent of students are employed with nonprofit organizations. Many students continue to work for their nonprofit employers while completing their coursework. Following graduation, students often receive promotions, transition into new roles, or move to new organizations. For more information about Marxe School alumni employment outcomes, click here.

    Undergraduate Courses

Undergraduate students working toward the Bachelors of Science in Public Affairs (BSPA) degree can take courses such as Nonprofit Administration and the Public Affairs Internship. Graduates of the BSPA program work for government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses serving the public interest. The BSPA program also prepares students for graduate school.

    Leadership Fellows New York

Leadership Fellows New York is the premier professional development opportunity for mid-career nonprofit practitioners in the metropolitan New York City region. The fellowship program represents a diverse, inclusive, and talented community of nonprofit leaders who are advancing social justice missions in New York and beyond.

Originally established in 2015 by The New York Community Trust in association with the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College and its Center for Nonprofit Strategy and Management, the fellowship has supported over 400 leaders at more than 250 local and national nonprofit organizations.

    Hagedorn Undergraduate Internships

Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs (BSPA) students have the unique opportunity to gain real-world experience through an internship in the nonprofit sector. Financial support is from the Hagedorn Foundation. Students must have declared the BSPA degree and hold an overall GPA of 3.00 to register for PAF 5452, Public Affairs Internship. Students are required to attend a 3-credit internship class, work 10-hours per week in a nonprofit organization, submit a final report, and make an oral presentation at the end of the semester. Fellows may develop fundraising strategies, conduct research studies, implement projects, or coordinate client activities. A $1,500 award is made upon the successful completion of the job assignment and the final report. Additional information about the program is available here.
