Mental Health and the Workplace (new course)– Learn to support yourself and your team in the workplace and find out how to safeguard your mental health at work. In this program we will explore practical resources that help staff to manage their distress and help them to be less reactive to social threats, reduce self-criticism, anxiety and depression. We will inquire how we can promote playfulness, creativity, connection and joy at work, which can be the antidotes to mental health problems in the workplace. *This course is only 1 week and is not eligible for academic credit transfer. Mental Health, Youth and Society – With unprecedented levels of mental distress and addiction reported globally, recent events exposed fissures within our social and health care systems. Behavioral health, focused on the promotion of mental health, resilience, and well-being, can have wide ranging impacts individually, socially, and economically. This course examines public health approaches including health promotion, prevention, and intervention, specific to mental health and addictive behaviors. Through interactive, multi-modal, and problem-based learning, we interrogate issues pertinent to our recovery from this global health crisis. Placemaking from Practice to Impact – This three-week program will begin by exploring placemaking—the philosophy and practice of enhancing urban spaces by actively involving their users in the transformation process. We will examine how placemaking is inspiring new approaches, such as place-led development, multiple value creation, entrepreneurial based placemaking and tactical urbanism. Space Law: Exploring Legal Frontiers – In this three-week course, we will critically evaluate the efficacy and applicability of current space laws in the face of evolving space technologies and missions. By integrating principles from politics and international relations, we will enrich the understanding of space law in the broader context of global diplomacy and geopolitical strategies. By the end of this program, students will be equipped with hands-on legal skills, including advocacy, negotiation, and opinion writing, ensuring they are prepared not only to understand but also to actively engage in the field of space law. The Circular City: Towards a Sustainable Urban Ecosystem – This interdisciplinary course unravels the complexity behind truly sustainable urban development. Building Brands and Influencing Behavior – In this three-week summer program, we examine what factors create a winning brand, analyze the strategies behind it, and learn how to build a winning brand strategy yourself. The course is set up for students to learn both the theory and practice of branding. All concepts are accompanied by real-life examples and supported by various exercises. Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society – The Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society, founded in 1997, is an unforgettable learning experience to be shared with a group of international students and taught by a multidisciplinary faculty. Participants benefit from an exceptional networking opportunity through the sharing of experiences, research plans and diverse perspectives with both professors and fellow students from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. The Summer Institute is a unique opportunity to study sexuality in all its diversities and is the only one of its kind in the world. The institute consists of three courses that can be taken separately or combined and stretched over seven weeks.
