    If you would like to earn academic credit for the courses listed below you will be submitting two applications:

    One application will be to the host university. Application links and deadlines are provided under each program.

    The second application will be to the Baruch Study Abroad Office (SAO). The deadline to apply to the SAO for a course to earn credit is March 15.

    To learn more about the process and gain access to the SAO application portal, you must attend a Study Abroad Advising Session. During the session, you should request to speak with the Director of Study Abroad.

    Some of the courses listed below are already included in the SAO application portal and are marked with a corresponding “PAF XXXX” number. If a course does not include a “PAF XXXX” designation, you will need to submit a PAF equivalency request to receive approval for academic credit.

    If you do not wish to earn academic credit for the courses listed below, you can still participate. In this case you will receive a certificate of completion/attendance from the host university. Please schedule a one-on-one meeting with Marxe Office of Global Initiatives to go over the process of applying and participating as a non-credit earning student.

    Study in Brazil (Summer 2026)

    Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) is one of the best schools in Brazil and located in the beautiful sunny coastal city of Rio de Janeiro! This summer PUC Rio is offering the 9th edition of The Brazilian Seminars Summer Program. This program is an interdisciplinary program meant to give a broad perspective of Brazilian issues which are currently in the global scenario and designed for students and professionals to broaden knowledge on Brazil while having fun socializing with people from different parts of the world, enjoying a vibrant urban lifestyle, and discovering the natural beauty of Rio. Lectures will be conducted in English.

    PLEASE NOTE: This course is not available for academic credit. 

    It is possible to combine the Brazilian Seminars program with 20h or 40h of Portuguese language. As an optional component of the Brazilian Seminars, participants may join a 20h Portuguese intensive course held before the main program and also join an additional 20h course of Portuguese language instruction offered immediately after the seminars. Each Portuguese module will offer a supplementary lecture about a Brazilian related topic, cultural and social activities. A day trip and a closing ceremony are also included in the Portuguese language Part II.

    •  52 class-hours offered through 18 lectures on different topics + 8h dedicated to technical visits + cultural and social activities. 
    • Optional and at additional cost: Portuguese language intensive course – Part I (20h): July 6 – 9, 2026
    • Optional and at additional cost: Portuguese language intensive course – Part II (20h): July 27 – 31, 2026 

    Accommodations: 

    • Home stays are available to students but on a first come first serve basis 
    • The average cost of accommodation with breakfast is  R$ 2,500,00 Brazilian Reals (~$485 USD)

    Study in Denmark (Summer 2026)

    Copenhagen Business School (CBS) is internationally accredited and a leading European business school. The International Summer University Programme (ISUP) was established in 1999, and at present it draws approx. 2300 participants from more than 50 countries – international exchange students, free movers, students from CBS and other Danish universities as well as professionals seeking to further develop their knowledge and skills. The Programme provides participants with an exceptional opportunity to study in a truly international environment and combine high-quality learning with an unforgettable summer experience.

    You have to apply as a Non-European/Freemover student

    • 3 week and 6-week courses: 15,000 DKK ($2,368) /per course  
    • 2-week course: DKK 5,900 ($931) /per course

    Accommodations:

    Eligibility: Graduate Students

    Social Entrepreneurship and Business Model Innovation – Social Entrepreneurship describes the discovery and sustainable exploitation of opportunities to create business models that address humanity’s social and environmental challenges. This intensive three-week course uses a mix of lecturing, firm visits with Copenhagen-based social enterprises, and applied group work to maximize student learning. As part of this course, you will work in diverse teams, allowing you to reflect critically on a social business model that you develop throughout the course. *This course is 3 weeks. (pre-approved for PAF9199 in the SAO application portal.)  

    Energy Economics and Policy – This course introduces the students to the analysis of the energy sector and its environmental impact from an economic perspective. It aims to make students familiar with the energy sector, energy markets, the relevant models applied, the economic characteristics of energy, the transition towards a sustainable production system based on renewables, and the applications of economic analysis to the competition and regulation of energy markets. The course will also prepare the students to understand the main energy-related environmental challenges for our societies. *This course is 3 weeks.

    Study in Germany (Summer 2026)

    Berlin School of Economics and Law  is offering courses through their Summer School. Their range of business, law, economics and politics programs are taught by the HWR Berlin’s acclaimed academic team. You will study alongside participants from across the globe whilst discovering Berlin’s unique culture and history.

    Eligibility: Graduate and Undergraduate Students

    *NOTE:  If you are a graduate student seeking to earn credit for these courses, there would be an additional fee of 90 EUR (95 USD), including an additional paper to write. Please email mspiaglobalinitiatives@baruch.cuny.edu for further details.

    European Business and Economics Program (EBEP) – introduces students to how the European Union actually works – as a political system, an economic market, and a business environment. The course includes four focused modules: 1) EU political integration; 2) Economic governance; 3) Intercultural management, and 4) Marketing strategies in the mobility and automotive sector. Classroom learning is paired with visits to EU-related institutions and a leading automobile company in Germany, The program also includes a dedicated module on German culture and society.

    • Course Dates:  June 21 – July 18, 2026
    • Program Cost: 1,100 EUR (~1,295 USD)
    • Tuition is due by the date listed on the invoice in the acceptance email.
    • Accommodation: 1,610-2,140 EUR (~1,890–2,525 USD) for a shared room in a student hostel.

    How Europe Works: Institutions & Law in the European Union (ILEU) – examines the EU’s institutional structure and legal framework, focusing on how law and governance shape European policy and business regulation, complemented by site visits and intercultural study in Germatel.
    *This course is 3 weeks. (Pre-approved for PAF9199 and PAF4199 in the SAO application portal.)

    • Course Dates:  June 28 – July 18, 2026
    • Program Cost: 995 EUR (~1,170 USD)
    • Tuition is to be paid by the due date on the invoice in the acceptance email.
    • Accommodation: 1,150-1,550 EUR (~1,350-1,825 USD) for a shared room in a student hostel.
      **This course can also be taken in combination with a one-week module on “Cross-Cultural Management and Diversity (CCM)”, offering 2 additional credits. This additional module runs from 22 June to 29 June or from 29 June to 6 July and costs only €85 (~$100) more. Please contact us for more information if you are interested. **

    Sustainability Challenges in a Global World – This program examines climate change, resource scarcity, biodiversity loss, and pollution through an interdisciplinary lens. The course analyzes how economics, public policy, law, and technological and social innovation contribute to sustainability solutions, combining short lectures with discussions, group work, expert input, and field visits. The program will be delivered in a blended learning format (1 + 2): one virtual reading week is followed by two on-site weeks in Berlin.

    • Virtual Reading Period: June 23 – July 3, 2026
    • On-site Classes in Berlin: July 05 – July 18, 2026
    • Program Cost: 950 EUR (~1,115 USD)
    • Tuition is due by the date listed on the invoice in the acceptance email.
    • Accommodation: 690 – 960 EUR (~810-1,130 USD) for a shared room in a student hotel.
      **This course can also be taken in combination with a one-week module on “Cross-Cultural Management and Diversity (CCM)”, offering two additional credits. This additional module runs from 22 June to 29 June or from 29 June to 6 July and costs only €85 (~$100) more. Please contact us for more information if you are interested.**
    Study in Netherlands (Summer 2026)

    The University of Amsterdam has organized courses in a variety of topics through their Summer School. Join others in Amsterdam during the summer season to further your academic development and explore the international city.

    • There is a 25 EUR (~26 USD) non-refundable application fee.
    • Students are advised to explore UvA scholarships.

    Program cost: 1750€ (~$2,060) 

    • Payment must be submitted within 1 week of receiving your offer of admission. Admissions are on a rolling basis. 

    Accommodations:

    • €900 (~$1,060) for a private room in shared university facilities  
    • All housing is first-come, first-served. Different types of rooms are available at different prices. Room types and prices will be noted in your offer of admission. You may find more information on housing options and pricing details.

    For Graduate Students:

    Multilateralism, Globalization & Corporate Diplomacy – Does climate crisis spell the end of human civilization or a chance for a breakthrough in global cooperation and multilateralism? Is the resurgence of nativist attitudes a transient backlash or the dawn of the post-globalist era? Will mission-driven business dominate future markets or become yet another trite gimmick? With a focus on practice over theory, these are the types of questions participants in this three-week course will ponder and discuss. (Pre-approved for PAF9199 in the SAO application portal.)     • Course Dates: July 19 – August 6, 2026. 

    Mental Health and the Workplace (new course)– Learn to support yourself and your team in the workplace and find out how to safeguard your mental health at work. In this program we will explore practical resources that help staff to manage their distress and help them to be less reactive to social threats, reduce self-criticism, anxiety and depression. We will inquire how we can promote playfulness, creativity, connection and joy at work, which can be the antidotes to mental health problems in the workplace. *This course is only 1 week and is not eligible for academic credit transfer.     • Course Dates: July 6 – July 10, 2026

    Mental Health, Youth and Society – With unprecedented levels of mental distress and addiction reported globally, recent events exposed fissures within our social and health care systems. Behavioral health, focused on the promotion of mental health, resilience, and well-being, can have wide ranging impacts individually, socially, and economically. This course examines public health approaches including health promotion, prevention, and intervention, specific to mental health and addictive behaviors. Through interactive, multi-modal, and problem-based learning, we interrogate issues pertinent to our recovery from this global health crisis.     Placemaking from Practice to Impact – This three-week program will begin by exploring placemaking—the philosophy and practice of enhancing urban spaces by actively involving their users in the transformation process. We will examine how placemaking is inspiring new approaches, such as place-led development, multiple value creation, entrepreneurial based placemaking and tactical urbanism. All aimed at turning cities into more human centered places with a high quality of life. *Spots in the course fill up quickly*

    Space Law: Exploring Legal Frontiers – In this three-week course, we will critically evaluate the efficacy and applicability of current space laws in the face of evolving space technologies and missions. By integrating principles from politics and international relations, we will enrich the understanding of space law in the broader context of global diplomacy and geopolitical strategies. By the end of this program, students will be equipped with hands-on legal skills, including advocacy, negotiation, and opinion writing, ensuring they are prepared not only to understand but also to actively engage in the field of space law.     The Circular City: Towards a Sustainable Urban Ecosystem – This interdisciplinary course unravels the complexity behind truly sustainable urban development. The first week of the course will unravel the academic and theoretical perspectives behind sustainability approaches, the second week will dive into methods and tools for a more hands-on approach, and in the final week, participants will perform their own material flow analysis of a given neighborhood in Amsterdam. *Spots in the course fill up quickly (Pre-approved for PAF9199 in the SAO application portal.)     Urban Studies: Planning and Living in Cities – With a focus on real urban places, set in both contemporary and historical contexts, the course will examine subjects such as neighborhood development and regeneration, housing finance and policy, city planning and sustainability, and the impact of household and demographic change on urban lives and spaces.     • Course Dates: June 25 – July 15, 2026 

    Addressing Conflict: Peacebuilding in Theory and Praxis – How do we relate to conflict around us? What are the challenges and opportunities for constructive engagement within intergroup conflict? How can we – ultimately – transform conflict? In this program, we will explore these questions and dive into the theory and praxis for peacebuilding.     For Undergraduate Students:

    Building Brands and Influencing Behavior – In this three-week summer program, we examine what factors create a winning brand, analyze the strategies behind it, and learn how to build a winning brand strategy yourself.  The course is set up for students to learn both the theory and practice of branding. All concepts are accompanied by real-life examples and supported by various exercises. (Pre-approved for PAF4199 in the SAO application portal.)

    Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society – The Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society, founded in 1997, is an unforgettable learning experience to be shared with a group of international students and taught by a multidisciplinary faculty. Participants benefit from an exceptional networking opportunity through the sharing of experiences, research plans and diverse perspectives with both professors and fellow students from a range of social and cultural backgrounds. The Summer Institute is a unique opportunity to study sexuality in all its diversities and is the only one of its kind in the world. The institute consists of three courses that can be taken separately or combined and stretched over seven weeks.

    How To Apply

    To apply please submit an application to the host institution (links will be provided as they are made available in the program descriptions), and, if taking a program for academic credit, please also submit an application to the Baruch College Study Abroad Office.

    The application for the Summer 2026 Marxe Study Away Award is closed. Stay tuned for upcoming deadlines and more information.

    To qualify for the award, applicants need to:

    1. Have been accepted into a Marxe School sponsored study abroad program, and
    2. Have 9 PAF credits completed at the time of application with a 3.4 cumulative GPA.

    Applicants must also be matriculated students at the time of application as well as during the course of the program and the semester following the study abroad program.
