    Hagedorn Internship Award

We are pleased to announce the Hagedorn Internship Award program. Funding is available to Marxe students who participate in an unpaid internship position at a public service nonprofit organization or government agency.

The Hagedorn Internship Award is made possible through the generosity of the Hagedorn Family who continues to honor the legacy of Amy Hagedorn, an alumna of Baruch College. The roots of Amy Hagedorn’s philanthropy lay deep in her gentle, lasting compassion. Her endless empathy for the needs of others grew out of a life filled with the gritty single-mother reality of struggling to raise four children, then with an unexpected, life-transforming transition from pinching pennies to giving away millions of dollars. Amy was also the daughter of Italian immigrants who knew first-hand the challenges of learning a new language and integrating into an often-hostile culture. As a result, the Horace and Amy Hagedorn Foundation worked tirelessly on behalf of immigrants and spent millions of dollars to fund immigrant-supporting nonprofit organizations. Beyond the actual dollars that her fund and her foundation distributed, Amy’s approach to philanthropy was a transcendent contribution to Long Island.
